mObama

I think it's disheartening that the people who are up in arms about evil Obama making a speech about education in the classroom are the same people who find it perfectly constitutional to have Christian prayer mandated in public schools.

You take that constitution and work it any way you need to in order to justify what works for you. The rest of us will just suffer, but that's okay because we're a minority. Cheers!

I would ask someone to explain the logic in this, but there is none.

Of course there is no logic. It's politicization for the sake of and nothing more. What's worse, they end up looking small and pathetic. I'm nauseated by the bitterness, disappointed in the respect for office and disheartened in the attitude of what I've witnessed so far. Grow up. And to loosely quote a funny funny lady on twitter - if your kid will be brainwashed by one appearance by Barry on the tv, maybe you suck as a parent.

Anonymous,
No schools have mandated prayer right now, of course (that's how it should be). But the people who want to "Keep prayer in school" are fine with indoctrinating children with THEIR religion... yet they are frequetly the ones that are not fine with their children being addressed by the president on the topic of education. It just makes no sense to me... it seems hypocritical and self-serving.

Also, your comment was intelligent and worth discussing. I bet in person we'd enjoy talking about this. Please don't feel like I'm the person who would be hateful and hold things against you. No need for anonymity here! :)

I'm pretty sure the only reason someone comments anonymously is because they choose to not stand behind what they say. Who has time for people like that? It's the hit and run of a conversation.

Funny, there was literally just a teaser on the local news about some schools here choosing not to show it, and I had practically the same thought. If it had been Bush, no one would have thought twice about in the South and they probably would have played ad nauseum. But it's a big bad Democrat, oh the horror! Forget the fact the White House previewed the speech to alleviate parents' fear and it's just Obama wishing the kids a good year and urging them to do their best, surely, there's got to be some hidden message about socialism and the horrors of healthcare.

PUH-LEASE! The first Bush did this, so did Reagan. This is spitting on a presidential tradition and telling your kids to have no respect for the person in office if you didn't vote for him.

Oh, and how's this for hilarious? In one of the Arlington schools that won't be showing the presidential address, they're busing the kids to Cowboys stadium on Sept. 21 to hear an address from George W. & Laura Bush.

Yeah, no bias there!

My opinion is it's crap. I see no reason for students to hear this speech.
