I traumatized an entire veterinarian's office today.
Both kids and I took the big dog to the vet. She is allergic to something and is chewing her paws and needs help. I load us all up and we get there. In the 4 minute drive it took to get there, she sheds at least a pound of hair in my car.
I get us all inside and signed in and we sit down to wait. And then, both of my children go nuts. Loud, not listening, ignoring me, just plain being obnoxious. Add to that the big dog wants to sit ON the chair with me because she's scared. So I'm shoving her off of me, trying to control 2 small children who are not behaving, and truly starting to sweat.. and then Cam starts crawling around on the DISGUSTING floor pretending she's a dog... barking, panting, etc. She is a thumbsucker, so this is even more horrible than a normal gross encounter.
Finally we get to the room and both kids are now wanting to hold the leash. I subdue them enough for the vet to do his thing. Then he's talking to me about the meds he's giving the dog, etc and my kids literally start going crazy. They are now in a full on fight over the leash. Buddha starts stomping and throwing a fit like he used to do when he was 2. Cam starts wailing and screaming. I look at the doctor and start laughing hysterically and say "Just please give me the medicine and let me leave!!"
He thankfully laughs and tells me about his own kids. Then he goes into the back to get the pills and I hear him laughing through the paper thin walls "You guys should see this poor lady in room 1 with 2 kids and her dog!" He didn't say it in a mean way, or I would have cried.
We came home and they were much better, but naptime came early today.

Oh, I think the vet's office has seen far worse than that. When your kids are 14 and 12 and fighting in public that's when it becomes embarassing. Shame there is no longer nap time at that age.
Wow! This sounds just like a snapshot out of my life...I probably would have asked what meds he could prescribe for me ; )
